In 2019, Mathematica was tasked with producing a digital brief highlighting new findings from the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), a federally funded initiative targeting teen pregnancy, STIs, and sexual risk behaviors among high-risk youth. Interactive web-based briefs were still a new format for the organization.

With the team still forming, the brief was designed and developed in-house. A business case, requirements document, and collaborative workspace were created in partnership with the product manager. Because of the project’s data visualization focus, visual style boards were shared for client review and approval. User personas were already in place, allowing the team to move directly into prototyping.

Low- to high-fidelity mockups were presented iteratively. To align with developer capabilities, the design was adjusted to balance ambition with feasibility. The final deliverable included animated, filterable data visualizations.

Note: The client has since updated the brief with new data. The sample shown is a static prototype based on the original design.
